A Marketers Dream
To the people who know me, you’ll know that I am truly a marketers dream. Seriously; I wore L’Oreal because I believed I was ‘worth it’. While watching Lipstick Jungle I popped into my mental shopping list (totally unconsciously) a blue handbag (because I really do need another handbag) and a pinky-purple top. Watching Sex and the City I walked out on a desperate need to purchase gladiator heels and more belts (oh, and the need for said pinky-purple top was initiated; Lipstick jungle just enforced the yearning).
This subliminal marketing isn’t limited to personal shopping; I had a dream a few weeks back where I met up with Susi for coffee and a catch up – in my dream she wore this gorgeous grey knit with pink opaques; she looked AWESOME! So when I spoke to her that day (I mean I had to call her didn’t i?) I told her that she simply must buy pink opaques… so taken was I by this dream that even I came home that day with teal opaques (well, I wanted to be a little bit different!). I am the person who goes to Coles (supermarket) and gets this little feeling of excitement when I spot the ‘New Item’ tag and can’t wait to try the latest and greatest tea/biscuits/chocolate.
Oh; did I mention that I am a mthly purchaser of the Shop Til You Drop magazine?
Anyway, I went to Harbour Town (Perth’s answer to outlet shopping) yesterday afternoon (I finished work a little early) with susi to (quickly) buy this one top that I had seen week before last. When I originally saw it I was ‘ummm-ing’ and aahh-ing’ about said item so I walked away. As the days passed I progressively wanted to item more. I could stand it no longer so off I went. Obviously we got there, tried it on and I bought it (ahem; in both the pink-purple colour and the teal – sorry but it was on sale… how do you expect any sane woman to resist those prices?).
I swear to you, I had no intention of buying anything else. Nothing! We went for a little walk around…. I walked out with an oversized clutch (did I mention that I saw one on Sex and the City and wanted one of those too?) it’s gorgeous – black patent with Fendi-style buckle and a pale grey knit shirt-dress.
I am choosing to blame those bloody end of financial year sales (grrr)! Although in saying this do you think that I’ve been able to find what I have been searching for since the beginning of this cold weather? Hell no! Where are those perfectly fitted pair of jeans that I am looking for (and have been looking for for at least the last 4 months), where are those tan high heel point-toe boots that I’m looking for? Try as I may to even set aside en entire shopping trip where I will not look at anything else expect said items (boots and jeans) I find myself coming home disheartened, deflated, disastrously disappointed, despondent and disillusioned at the retail outlets that aren’t catering to what I really, really need.
And the shopping expedition(s) continues – I have a wedding to go to in two weeks…. Would you believe that I have nothing to wear?
Except a hot new clutch!!
